The mission of the Village Dance Studio is to provide quality dance education to the community in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Village Dance Studio is a family owned business that has been providing dance education since 1977. VDS began under the direction of Annette Pettigrew and is now owned by her daughter, Traci Broman. With a strong foundation in ballet, VDS has grown and evolved through the years to include hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, pointe, creative movement, and more. Emphasis is placed on technique while at the same time presenting a fun, non-competitive dance experience. Our diverse & experienced staff will help each dancer reach their full potential. Our goal is to build confidence in our dancers, both academically and within the dance world. Dance classes are focused on giving students the foundation for professional performing and teaching opportunities. Classes are also great for those who have no professional ambition in dance but want exercise, grace, poise, confidence, and movement ability. Emphasis is placed on correctness while at the same time presenting a fun, non-competitive dance experience. Previous students have graduated as valedictorians and top of their class, studied dance in college, and beyond. Many current dancers have leads in their school and community musicals, become dance captains of their show choirs, and much more. Most of all, our students have developed into confident young people. Village Dance Studio does a show at the end of each year performed at Zionsville Community High School. The spring show alternates between a big themed recital every other year and a Showcase of Classes/performance story on the opposite years. A Recital is big, flashy, exciting, and fulfilling—in short, everything you’d expect it to be. A Showcase is more informal and requires less of a time commitment. It also keeps fees down (no formal costumes purchased) while still providing dancers with the opportunity to dance on stage. Because of its low-key nature, a Showcase allows our classes to focus more on how to dance than simply learning a dance. In 2023, we added a story performance to the showcase year for our advanced dancers. All performing opportunities give dancers the appropriate time to learn technique and other essentials that we value highly at VDS. |
