Join us for the inaugural “Dad’s Skit/dance” in this year's recital. Led by VDS dance dad Joe Broman & owner Traci Broman, this skit/dance is open to any dads, gpas, uncles, or moms (that play the role of dad in your family) of a VDS dancer in the recital.
What does it cost? It is FREE to participate, but we ask that all that sign up attend all 3 rehearsals. Participants will also be responsible for their own "costume" and possible props. Participants will also be given the opportunity to buy a recital t-shirt with "Dance Dad" on the back for $10. What is the costume? Most likely we will ask participants to wear shorts or jeans and a blue or red shirt. It will be very simple and easy to acquire. What will I be doing on stage? This year’s dad’s skit/dance will include the “fun” dad’s get to have in Disney as they haul the backpacks, wait in long lines, and carry the kids, only to rediscover their child-like side with light saber choreography. The entire number will include acting, humor, and simple dancing with light sabers. You do not have to have ever danced in your life, you just need to be willing to try. If you own any lightsabers (or your kid does and you can borrow)- please bring to the first rehearsal! What if my child is only in one show? We will plan out the dance so that most dads will have a counterpart- meaning if your child is in the Saturday show we'll partner you with a dad who is in the Sunday show. You will only perform on the day(s) your dancer is in the recital. If your dancer is in both shows, we'd love to use you in both shows to provide some consistency Will my child be able to see me on stage? Yes- we will work through the list of dads participating and make sure your kiddo gets a chance to watch you on stage. Where is this dance going to be in the recital? The Dance Dad's Call to Arms is #27 and falls in the Hollywood Studios section of our show right after the Hip Hop dance "Troop". This is the 2nd dance after intermission, so we will get the dads together backstage during that intermission time. What if I can't make it to all 3 rehearsals? If you are really interested in being in this number, but there is no way for you to make one of the rehearsals please email me to let me know ([email protected]). If you are going to miss more than one rehearsal or the Saturday dress rehearsal we suggest holding off on participating and join in the next recital dad's dance. Having everyone in attendance for the rehearsals is the only way we can truly pull this off to be both fun and look good on stage. Participants must be able to attend all 3 rehearsals:
