Village Dance Studio Ensemble
NEW! Village Dance Studio Juniors
This new group is for dancers in Ballet levels IV-VI (ages 10+).
If selected, what are the requirements?
Junior members are strongly encouraged to attend the Jr. Premier Dance Workshop in the summer, take one VDS ballet classes each week during the school year plus at least 1 additional class (jazz, modern, ballet, etc), assist with the Ensemble & Juniors fundraiser, and be an active dancer at the Village Dance Studio. Attendance is very important for all Junior members.
When do the Juniors rehearse?
The VDS Juniors rehearsal schedule varies depending on what shows are coming up. Teachers will be notifying Junior Members when there are performing opportunities and when the rehearsal will be. Juniors are giving the opportunity to perform, but are not required if schedule does not allow.
Are Juniors in every show the Ensemble does?
Not necessarily. Being a member of the VDS Juniors means that you may be asked to be in additional shows and performances. Juniors will be given additional performing opportunities.
There is a yearly fee of $50 to be a member of the VDS Juniors. This fee helps cover some of the additional costs, such as rehearsals/teacher time, costumes, performance fees, and more.
What is expected of Ensemble dancers?
Along with taking 1 VDS Ballet classes/week and additional class during the regular school year, good attendance is important. Junior members must call when they must miss or write it on the calendar in Studio II. Above all else, we expect our Junior members to be respectful, have a positive attitude, give their best effort each day, and represent VDS as role models to those around them.
What is expected of Junior parents?
VDS Junior parents are expected to attend the MANDATORY Junior Parents Meeting- time/date TBD. They are also asked to attend at least 4 of the Parent’s Council meetings held once/month during the regular school year. Additional expectations include: helping with the annual fundraiser, providing snacks/meals on long rehearsal days, helping organize costumes, chaperone outings, and more. Just like other sports, teams, or groups that your child is involved with the VDS Juniors' count on the support of parents to be a successful and meaningful experience for your dancer.
