Auditions will be held during Ballet & Jazz on
Wednesday, May 1st (5:45-6:45 & 7:15-7:45pm)
The audition will be taught by VDS staff and judged by outside dance instructors. The audition will follow this general layout:
- Ballet Barre & Center
- Modern & Jazz Combo
(Pointe will be assessed through normal Pointe II/III and Pointe III classes during the year and summer.)
Dancers will be divided into groups after the ballet barre based on age and years of dance experience. Dancers are still able to participate in the full audition even if they have not had formal training in modern or jazz.
What do I need for the audition?
Dancers should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the audition time to check in and warm themselves up. Dancers need ballet shoes have footed tights that can be rolled up to ankle or calf-length for the jazz/modern component of the audition. Traditional attire (black leotard and pink tights) is recommended. Hair must be pulled back and off the face, bun preferred.
What does the audition determine?
This audition is used to determine the 2019-2020 Ensemble & Junior Members Groups as well as featured parts, solos, extra performances, Nutcracker Short & Suite groups, etc.
What if I have a pre-scheduled conflict and cannot attend the audition, but am still interested?
This will be handled on a case by case basis. Please email us immediately at Traci@VillageDanceStudio.com
